The printing paper that you use on your canon inkjet printer is the key ingredient, which affects the quality of the image. Any standard copier paper will work, but it won’t give the same crisp and bright image that a Canon Inkjet Paper made for canon inkjet printer can.
Two important elements that affect the picture quality are: -

* Absorption
The roughness of the surface of the paper determines its brightness. If the surface of the paper is rough, it will invariably disperse light in number of directions, whereas a paper with smoother surface will reflect more of the light back in the same direction. This makes the paper look brighter, which will obviously make the image printed on the paper look brighter too. The best example you can get is by comparing a picture in the newspaper and then the same picture in any magazine. So, if any paper is quoted as being “bright”, it means that it has a smoother surface than any normal paper.
The next important element is absorption. A paper, that is used for printing should stay in a tight, symmetrical dot, when ink is sprayed on it. If the paper absorbs more ink than required then the dot will feather. This means that it will spread in an irregular manner to occupy more space than the printer expects it to, which will result in an page that appears to be somewhat hazy, especially at the edges of pictures and text.
